Princess Arabella

Mylo Freeman started her series on princess Arabella when she heard a story about a drama-teacher who wanted to give the role of princess to a little black girl.However the girl declined because she was convinced there was no such thing as a black princess. In her mind a princess should be white, blond and blue-eyed.

Then and there Mylo decided to start a picturebook-series around a little black princess called Arabella.

It is very important for all children to be able to identify with the main character from a different ethnic background.

There is still a lack of ethnic characters in picturebooks, but Arabella is here to stay!
